Selby Botanical Gardens is one of Sarasota’s little gems nestled along the bay between a historic neighborhood and the humming downtown harbor. Susannah and Nate chose to say, “I do” at the Schimmel Wedding Pavilion just past the old banyan trees inside Selby Garden’s walls. The pavilion features bay front views and is just one of several popular locations within the 10 acre tropical oasis. Their wedding flowers were inspired by the bride’s love for simplicity and the fall season. Photographer Naomi Chokr Photography did an exception job portraying the beauty of the day from the location, to the laughter shared and of course the moment when two individuals said, “yes” to forever.
The Couple:
Susannah and Nate
The Location:
Selby Botanical Gardens, Sarasota Florida
The Floral Inspiration:
Some say flowers are the crowning jewels to a wedding and we have to agree. They help set the tone of the entire event. Susannah and Nate’s fall wedding was a wonderful example of how to compliment the setting while still adding a romantic flair. Like all of our weddings, we sat down with the bride to make sure we really understood what her vision was for her day. For Susannah, she loves purple, but she still wanted to bring in the colors of the season, along with interesting textures. Here is what we came up with…
Bridal Party:
The bride chose roses and hydrangea as her wedding flowers. For her bouquet, we elevated her chosen flowers by adding dusty miller for texture and mini callas for a touch of sophistication. To not detract from the delicate beading of the bridal gown we incorporated her favored color, purple, by only adding dusty lavender roses to the bridesmaid bouquets. The groomsmen adorned mini calla lily boutonnieres on their lapels as a nod to the sophisticated simplicity that both the bride and groom desired.
Ceremony:
The purple roses embellished the soft grassy aisle up to the beautiful pavilion. On each side of the stain –glass and cedar structure, we placed arrangements of curly willow and white monte casino aster blooms. This added a touch of whimsy and set the stage for the nuptials.
Reception:
To incorporate the colors of the season we adorned the banquet tables with burlap runners, dark brown manzanita branches and compact arrangements of orange roses, dusty miller and white monte casino aster flowers.
On behalf of Beneva Flowers, the bridal team would like to wish Susannah and Nate a life full of beautiful moments just like this one.
