National Wedding Month – February!

Did you know February is actually National Wedding Month? There is an average of 6,200 weddings per day in the United States. The top months that contribute to this are June, August and September. As you can see, February is not listed there, so why would it be National Wedding Month?

According to the National Association of Bridal Consultants, the primary reason that February has been chosen as National Wedding Month is that brides and grooms begin serious wedding planning during this month more than any other time in the year. I think Valentine’s Day is known for love, therefore, February gets to reap the benefits of that holiday. February is known as the most romantic month, which inspires a lot of wedding thoughts and activities. Valentine’s Day itself accounts for nearly 6 million engagements on that day alone!!

Wedding trends are always evolving, therefore something popular one year may not be popular the next. There are distinct colors and patterns that we see more every year trending. Monthly, they are a little bit more rare. However, February has some trending themes that we have noticed. The first one is dark and edgy colors and palettes, something about wanting to stay away from the color red makes people gear more towards darks. Also, because we are doing so many classic looks, that has been a recurring trend or theme throughout February’s past.

Another few factors contributing to winter weddings are, snow if the climate is correct, the price is usually less expensive during winter months, a tropical wedding or destination wedding will make it feel more luxurious. We are located in Sarasota, Florida, and therefore we get a lot of destination brides and grooms.
